The International Research Center for Sustainable Built Environment（IRCSBE）in Chongqing University was formally approved by the University on October 15, 2012. IRCSBE is under the direct supervision of Chongqing University. The Center has Advisory Committee, Academic Committee, Director and Secretariat. Professor Liyin Shen assumes the role of IRCSBE Director.

IRCSBE undertakes the research based on the updated theories and knowledge developed from multiple disciplines including construction engineering, architecture, management, economics, social science, environmental science, urban management, etc. The Center pursues the study on the new problems and new developments in the process of implementing sustainable built environment globally. It examines both the practices and theoretical applications, and contributes to the development of research on sustainable built environment. The Center aims to become a leading research center in the discipline and contribute to the development of the University.
