Professor Shen obtained his Ph.D. from University of Reading, UK. He was the founding chairman of the Chinese Research Institute of Construction Management (CRIOCM) , and the founding Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Construction Management. Professor Shen holds a number of external appointments in the capacity of Honorary Professor and Visiting Professor in China and Internationally. His current research interests are in the areas of Experience Mining Theory and Application; Low-Carbon City; Sustainable Development of Mountainous Small Towns,  Urban Resources and Environmental Carrying Capacity，and other areas related to the theme of sustainable built environment.
