Southwest China Township Mayor Forum was successfully held 2017-12-14 11:06 Views:

 

On May 13, 2017, Southwest China Township Mayor Forum was held in the conference room 210 of School of Construction Management and Real Estate, Chongqing University. This forum based on the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Foundation Project, Study On the Sustainable Construction Level Diagnosis and Promotion Path of Mountainous Towns in Southwest China, built an important exchange platform for experts, scholars and the mayors, and provided valuable information for research project. This forum has been supported and participated by more than 30 townships in Southwest China. And experts from many universities participated in the forum, including Peking University, Zhejiang University, Chongqing University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing University of Science and Technology. Professor Shen Liyin, director of the research project, reported on the project's phased results and experience at the forum.

The first agenda of the forum was chaired by Professor Ye Gui, deputy director of IRCSBE. Professor Yuan Wenquan, director of Office of Social Sciences of Chongqing University, delivered a welcome speech. He hoped that the communication between the experts and scholars in this forum could provide theoretical support for the construction of mountainous towns in Southwest China, and confirmed the phased achievements of the research projects. Professor Liu Guiwen, president of School of Construction Management and Real Estate, Chongqing University, warmly welcomed the guests, gave recognition and expectation to the work of the research group, and made a report on the analysis of key points for the construction of the characteristic small towns. Professor Feng Changchun from College of Urban and Environmental Science, Peking University, gave a report on the obstacles and main points in the planning and development of small and medium-sized towns in the process of urbanization ". Yang Shaohong, secretary of the Party committee in Lincang Lushi town, Yunnan province, shared the experience of the implementation of sustainable development and construction in Lushi town. Professor Wu Yuzhe, director of Department of land management, Zhejiang University, delivered a speech about the planning and positioning characteristics small town from three aspects of gathering, inclusion and livability.

The second agenda of the forum was chaired by Xu Bo, associate professor of School of Construction Management and Real Estate, Chongqing University. Professor Lin Jian from College of Urban and Environmental Science, Peking University reported the assessment of environmental effects of land use resources in villages and towns. Professor Huang Rongyao from National Central University in Taiwan introduced the promotion and implementation of the urban and rural landscape change, taking Creek Street as an example. Professor Feng Lifang, chief editor of Urban Studies gave a speech on the theme of "respect the farmers' creation, science and technology to support the countryside". He Muxia, deputy mayor of Zunyi Daluchao town, Guizhou province, and Chen Qian, deputy mayor of Bashan town, Chongqing, made speeches on problems and experiences in the implementation of sustainable construction.

The third and fourth agenda of the forum is round table discussion. It is hosted by Professor Long Fenjie, president of Guizhou Polytechnic Institute, and Professor Xiang Pengcheng from School of Construction Management and Real Estate, Chongqing University. More than 20 township leaders from Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, together with the experts made a hot discussion on the problems faced by southwest mountainous towns, including population and talents, resources and environment protection, construction financing, industry positioning and development, land use and land policy issues and government functions and so on, and discussed the appropriate development mode and path correspondingly.

The forum is a successful forum combining academic with practice. It provides valuable data for further research of the projects, and helps to promote sustainable development of mountain towns in China.
